Build a chain of real words

Feetle is a word ladder: start with the word on your board and find a route to FEET, changing one letter at a time. Follow this complete answer from top to bottom. Every row is an accepted word, and the note beside it shows the one letter that changed. The starting word counts as zero moves. Keep all four letters in place; adding, removing or rearranging letters is not allowed.

Type a word, or tap a letter

Use your keyboard or the on-screen keys to fill the four boxes. To make a quick edit, tap a letter in the current word: the word copies into the boxes, and a border and cursor mark the letter to replace. Each letter you type moves the cursor one box to the right. Backspace clears the letter you just typed without shifting the others. When your word is ready, choose Enter word. You can also paste a complete word. Uppercase and lowercase both work.

Let the feedback help

Green means a letter matches FEET in the same position, both in your route and in the next word you are typing. The border shows where you are editing, even when that letter is green. Enter word becomes available when exactly one letter has changed. Rejected entries cost no moves or hints; read the message and correct your word. Reaching FEET completes the round and shows how your move count compares with the shortest route.

Daily: a shared starting point

Everyone playing this Feetle edition gets the same daily starting word. That makes it possible to compare routes with friends or join the daily leaderboard after finishing. Each start has a checked path to FEET, with a shortest route of three to seven moves. There may be several equally short solutions. You do not have to discover one particular answer, and you can take your time: speed does not affect your score.

The date and countdown on the board belong to the UTC puzzle day. Keep an eye on the countdown if you want to publish a result, because the old daily round closes when the new day begins. Published scores remain available through the leaderboard’s date selector.

Practice: room to experiment

Choose Practice above the board whenever you want a different starting word. The same dictionary, input controls and one-letter rule apply, but practice results do not enter the daily rankings. Try unfamiliar word families, use hints to learn a connection, or start another round after finishing. There is no daily limit on practice games.

Once the page has loaded, practice moves can continue even if the daily service is unavailable. The current practice round stays in this browser when local storage is available. If you see a storage warning, you can still play, but refreshing may lose that round. Loading the website itself requires a connection.

WHEN THE NEXT WORD WON’T COME

Look for a connection, then another.

From FINE, three possible one-letter changes lead to LINE, FIRE and FIND. One word can open several different routes.More Feetle strategy and examples ↗

A green letter can change again

Green tiles match FEET in the same position. They are a guide, not a lock. You may need to change a matching letter to reach a different word family before returning to it later. Counting green tiles does not tell you how many moves remain. A word that looks farther from FEET can still be a useful bridge.

Try a different position

If replacing one letter leads nowhere, look at the other three positions. FINE can become LINE, FIRE or FIND: three legal moves that open different possibilities. A vowel change can be especially useful when you keep seeing the same endings. The searchable Feetle word list lets you check an unfamiliar word, but an accepted word is not necessarily a shortcut. Think about its possible next step before committing.

Plan your last step, too

FEED and FEEL both connect directly to FEET. Treat one of those neighbors as a smaller goal, then look for a bridge from your current word. After finishing, compare your moves with the shortest count shown in the result and review where your route wandered. Remembering one useful connection can help more than memorizing a whole solution. Practice gives you somewhere to try that connection again.

Feetle FAQ

Playing, saving and sharing your word walk.

Is Feetle free to play without an account?

Yes. You can play the daily Feetle puzzle and unlimited practice as a guest, including using hints and viewing your result. There are no lives to buy and no sign-in step before playing. Google sign-in is only needed if you decide to publish a completed daily result. Finishing a puzzle or signing in never publishes a score automatically.

How do I publish a game I finished as a guest?

After solving the daily puzzle, choose Sign in to publish and continue with Google in the same browser. Your completed route stays saved while you sign in. Back on the result, choose a public nickname and confirm publication before the puzzle’s UTC day ends. The board shows your nickname, moves and hints; your Google email address and photo stay private. Each account can publish one final result per day.

What information is public? →
Which words does Feetle accept?

This edition uses a fixed list of 1,853 four-letter English words for both daily and practice games. A real English word may still be missing from that list, including some names, abbreviations or spelling variants. Check the searchable word list if an entry surprises you. A move must also change exactly one letter from your current word; being in the dictionary alone is not enough.

Look up an accepted word →
What is the difference between Hint and Reveal route?

Hint fills your input with one useful next word. You still choose whether to submit it, edit it or try something else. Asking again from the same word does not add another hint; asking from a different word does. Reveal route, below the keyboard, shows a solution and ends the round after confirmation. A revealed round cannot be published, so use a hint if you want to keep solving.

Can I undo a move or restart my Feetle route?

Yes, while the round is still in progress. Undo removes your last accepted move, and Restart returns you to the same starting word. Both keep the hints you have already requested, even if you return to an earlier position. Once you reach FEET or reveal the route, that round is final. Choose another practice round if you would like to keep playing.

When does the next daily Feetle puzzle arrive?

A new daily puzzle starts at 00:00 UTC, which may be different from midnight where you live. The board shows the current UTC date and a countdown to the next puzzle. At the reset, the previous daily round closes, including unfinished games and unpublished results. If you have already finished today’s challenge, Practice lets you play another starting word immediately without waiting for tomorrow.

Will my route be here if I leave and come back?

Daily moves are saved as you play and can be restored in the same browser during the same UTC day. Keep that browser’s cookies: clearing them or opening a private window gives you a separate game. Google sign-in does not transfer an unfinished route between devices. Practice progress is saved locally when browser storage is available. If saving fails, follow the warning on the board before closing the page.

Need help with a saved game? →
How are Feetle leaderboard positions decided?

Fewer moves rank higher. When two routes use the same number of moves, fewer hints rank higher; matching move and hint counts share a rank. The starting word is not a move, and time is not a tiebreaker. Only completed daily games can be published. Practice rounds and revealed solutions stay off the board, and a published result cannot be replaced later that day.
